Rene & Lorraine Raymond

The Papertown Inn hotel was built by Rene and Lorraine Raymond in the summer of 1979. The early business plans included 20 motel rooms, a 48 seat dining room, and a 24 seat lounge. From its first incarnation, the objective was to employ the community and be a stylish hub for tourists and locals. The grand opening invited all to be a part of the community's new growth and achievements with rooms set for November of 1979 with a dining room and lounge to follow in January of 1980. The early 1980s saw business interest rates of 18% which proved to be challenging. Thankfully business was steady with locals and visitors to our area as well as Abitibi Price Paper Mill, Manitoba Hydro and the Manitoba Telephone System made it possible for this new venture to flourish. For many years the Raymond family worked alongside each other as part owners of the business, today the business is owned by Mike and Joanne Raymond. The Papertown Inn has grown tremendously, we now proudly employ 35 people and have been fortunate to perform periodic renovations to the building which includes an indoor pool and waterslide. On behalf of the staff, management, and owners of the Papertown Inn we welcome all to drop in and let us serve you for that is what we enjoy best of all.
